A fellow APDO colleague Mel, from More Organised has tagged me in the Christmas blog tag… a series of questions about Christmas that I have answered in my own blog. Please let me know if you would like to be tagged so I can see your answers too.

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

I don’t have one favourite movie, but I do enjoy the time to sit down and enjoy a film without feeling guilty and the thought I should be doing something else. Christmas would not be Christmas without seeing a Bond film, The Snowman or something with Hugh Grant in!

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Having grown up in Cornwall where it hardly snows at all, I don’t remember a white Christmas as a child. I do however remember driving to Manchester on Christmas eve in 2004 when it was beginning to snow and we wondered if we would make it. My husband and I were spending the holidays with his sister. We did make it, and it was a white Christmas!

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

There is no “normal” as my husband’s family is in the north and my family is in the South. If we are not at home, we will be trying to catch up with the family in a different part of the country. As with most people this year, it will be a quiet one at home with lots of zoom appointments so we can spend time virtually with our loved ones.

What Is your favourite Christmas song?

Ooh there are so many lovely Christmas songs and Carols. The Carol “Once in Royal David’s City still gives me goosebumps when I hear it, especially if the first verse is sung as a solo. The old ones are still the best and I love “I’m dreaming of a White Christmas” by Bing Crosby.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Er I normally forget at least one of them … Rudolph, Dancer, Prancer, Blitzen, Vixen Dasher and Donner. Oops I forgot Comet & Cupid! It would be so helpful if there was a little rhyme to help us remember like there is for the colours of the rainbow!

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

My husband (before we were married) bought me a digital SLR camera. I didn’t know he was going to buy it and I was so excited when I unwrapped it!

Most memorable Christmas memory?

Christmas is a very special time of year and there have been so many lovely times spent with family, its hard to pick just one. I do remember the Christmas my husband and I moved into our first house together and how grown up I felt buying a real Christmas tree for the first time! My son was born just a few weeks before Christmas and that was a special year as we knew our family was complete.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Its time to slow down and enjoy the here and now! Having time with the family just to enjoy the simple things of good food, good conversation, playing games and going for walks to enjoy the beauty around us. Its also a time to reflect and be thankful for what we have and to plan for next year.

What don’t you like about Christmas?

Christmas can often be a time of excess and waste which I really don’t like. There is also pressure to buy the perfect gift. I do feel the pressure, especially in my line of work as I would hate anything I buy someone to become clutter!

What about you? I’d love to hear some of your answers in the comments! Or if you have your own blog or social media, keep the tag going and answer all the questions in your own post – it would be lovely to hear about your Christmas!
