Helping you clear the clutter, create calm and love your home again – sustainably
If you’re looking for a professional organiser in Berkhamsted, you’re in the right place.
I’m Sarah, founder of The Flamingo Organising Co, and I’ve been helping people declutter and organise their homes for 9 years.
Berkhamsted is also a town I know very well. Before The Flamingo Organising Co, I spent many years working in the town as an Event Organiser, so I’ve had a connection with the local community for a long time.
These days, I’m much more likely to be found helping someone sort out their spare room, clear a cluttered garage or prepare for a house move!
Decluttering doesn’t have to mean throwing everything away
One of the things that matters to me when I work with clients is what happens to the things we decide you no longer need.
Decluttering isn’t about filling black bags and sending everything to landfill.
Quite the opposite.
I believe that when we’re ready to let go of something, we should think about whether it could be useful to someone else before we throw it away.
Could it be donated?
Could it be sold?
Could it be passed on to a friend or family member?
Could it be reused or repurposed?
Can it be recycled responsibly?
My aim is always to help you move things on thoughtfully and sustainably wherever possible. Take a read of a recent blog where I suggest local places to donate unwanted items sustainably.
Of course, not everything can be reused or donated, but I will always encourage you to consider the alternatives before something goes in the bin.
Giving your unwanted things a new home
I’m lucky to have some wonderful local organisations in and around Berkhamsted that help make this possible.
I regularly volunteer for Pens for Kids, https://www.pensforkids.co.uk/ a local charity based in Berkhamsted, and I often take suitable donations from my clients there.
Pens for Kids accepts unwanted pens and pencils that are still in working order and sends them to children who need them around the world. So that drawer full of pens you never use might just have another life ahead of it!
I also take suitable client donations to Returned to Glory https://www.stfrancis.org.uk/supporting-us/shop-with-us/returned-to-glory in Berkhamsted, the re-loved furniture and homeware showroom supporting The Hospice of St Francis.
It’s a wonderful example of how unwanted things can be given another chance. Furniture and homeware can be re-loved, restored, upcycled and sold on, with profits supporting the Hospice.
This is one of the things I love about decluttering: letting go of something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the end of its story.
Professional decluttering in Berkhamsted
Perhaps you’ve been putting off tackling that room for months.
Maybe your spare room has gradually become a dumping ground.
Perhaps the loft is full, the garage is difficult to use, or your wardrobe is overflowing with clothes you haven’t worn for years.
Or maybe you’re moving house or downsizing and simply don’t know where to begin.
Whatever the reason, you don’t have to tackle it all on your own.
We’ll work together to decide what you want to keep, what you’re ready to let go of and what could be moved on to a new home.
I’ll never make those decisions for you. It’s your home and your belongings, so you remain in control.
My role is to give you the time, support, encouragement and practical ideas to make those decisions easier.
And I promise there will be no judgement!
How I can help
I offer a range of decluttering and organising services for clients in Berkhamsted, including:
General decluttering
We’ll tackle the area that’s bothering you most, whether that’s one cupboard or an entire room. I’ll help you work through your belongings and create a space that feels calmer and easier to manage.
Moving house & downsizing
Moving can be the perfect opportunity to let go of things you no longer need.
I can help you decide what is worth taking with you, what could be donated or sold, and what needs to be recycled or disposed of responsibly.
I can also help you get organised once you’ve moved in, so you can settle into your new home without boxes and belongings taking over.
Wardrobe organising
A wardrobe full of clothes but “nothing to wear” is a familiar problem!
We’ll work through your clothes together and decide what genuinely earns its place. Unwanted items can then be donated, sold or otherwise moved on responsibly.
Families & children’s belongings
Children seem to accumulate things at an astonishing rate!
I can help you sort through toys, clothes, books and all the other things that gradually take over a family home – creating systems that are realistic for your family and easier to maintain.
Paperwork & home organisation
If paperwork is piling up or you can never find the document you’re looking for, I can help you create simple systems that work for the way you actually live.
A local, personal service
Because I’ve lived and worked around the area for many years, Berkhamsted isn’t simply another postcode on my service area.
It’s a town I know and love.
I spent many years working here as an Event Organiser, and I’m now fortunate enough to continue being part of the local community through my work as a Professional Organiser and my volunteering with Pens for Kids.
I love that my work can have a little local ripple effect too – helping one household clear some clutter, while giving those unwanted things the opportunity to be useful somewhere else.
What happens when you work with me?
We’ll start with a free 30-minute consultation, I may offer an in person one as Berkhamsted is just around the corner from me.
We’ll have a chat about what’s bothering you, what you’d like to achieve and how I can help.
There’s no obligation to book.
If we decide to work together, we’ll create a plan that feels manageable for you. During our sessions, we’ll work at your pace, making decisions together and creating practical systems that fit your lifestyle.
And when things are ready to leave your home, I’ll help you think about the best way to move them on.
The aim isn’t simply to make your home look tidy for a few days.
It’s to help you create a home that feels calmer, works better for you and is easier to maintain.
